Mission

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is a professional not-for-profit regional theatre dedicated to the performing arts whose mission is to entertain, educate and inspire our community.

Organizational History

In eight years, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has become one of Florida’s preeminent professional theatres, committed to performance, production and education through its collaborations with local and national artists. As South Florida’s largest award-winning regional theatre, the Theatre’s performances have drawn rave reviews from media outlets across the world.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Andrew Kato and Managing Director Tricia Trimble, as well as a dedicated board and staff, the Theatre has received multiple Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s highest honor for artistic excellence, and boasts a subscription base of more than 7,000. The Theatre has world-class facilities in support of its Conservatory of Performing Arts, which serves hundreds of students in after-school, weekend and summer programs.

After receiving a prestigious John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Fund grant, the Theatre created the Emerging Artists Series in Musical Theatre Playwriting. Through this new program, the Theatre developed the musical Academy for the New York Musical Theatre Festival, which went on to win Best Musical at South Korea’s Daegu International Musical Festival. Also through the series, the Theatre commissioned the world premiere of Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl.

In addition to a supportive Board of Directors, the Theatre has more than 400 volunteers assisting in a variety of functions, including office support, ushering, special events and computer services. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild works on a number of special fundraising events to benefit both the Theatre and its Conservatory through an established endowment, monetary donations and scholarships.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) public charity and serves over 70,000 people annually in the tri-county area. Located at the site of the former Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre in Jupiter, the Theatre is the largest regional theatre in South Florida. The annual budget is $4.8 million, of which $1.8 is donated.

The roof was raised 14 feet

75 feet is the distance from the orchestra pit to the last row of seats in the theatre.

The A/C system is placed outside in a remote area for the purpose of minimizing sound transfer.    The A/C ducts to under the seats.  5200 cfm is the ability of the A/C 1 system.

The chandelier is the original that was first installed when the building was the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre..

The orchestra pit can be opened to hold up to 12 musicians comfortably.  When closed, the stage can be extended an additional three feet for a more intimate production.

The pond on the front of the property goes back to the original dinner theatre.  The pond has been reshaped to the original form.

The kitchen has been converted to new state-of-the-art dressing rooms and a rehearsal hall.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre installed a catwalk and control room in the new third floor of the audience chamber.

The theatre is now equipped with a new state-of-the-art sound and lighting system (including 14 fully automated lights).
