Veteran Broadway performer Deanna L. Dys will direct and choreograph the upcoming production of the family-friendly musical Bye Bye Birdie on June 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m.

The show will star students from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts’ three-week Senior Conservatory summer camp (grades 6-12), in which students learn all aspects of stage production, culminating in full performances of a show.

Dys, who is currently choreographing the award-winning hit HBO series Boardwalk Empire, was the youngest performer (at 16 years old) ever hired by legendary Broadway producer David Merrick to appear in his Tony Award®-winning musical 42^nd Street. She appeared in the leading role of Dolly Tate opposite Reba McEntire on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun, as well as Nickie Pignatelli opposite Donna McKechnie in Sweet Charity. She appeared opposite Deborah Gibson in Chicago, as well as having been a featured dancer and/or assistant choreographer on Broadway in LoveMusik, Crazy For You, Candide, Meet Me in St. Louis, Saturday Night Fever and more.

During camp, Dys will guide students through the process of auditioning for a Broadway show, a fast-paced rehearsal schedule and the opportunity to showcase all that they’ve learned onstage, complete with costumes and professional lighting.

Camp includes three full weeks of instruction, rehearsals and costumes for both performances; all students will be a part of the production, auditions will be held for placement only. $750; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; pre-care and after-care are also available.
