ORIGINAL ANNIE REUNITES WITH CHARNIN
AT THE MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE!

April 24, 2009 (Jupiter, FL) - Martin Charnin, creator, director and lyricist of Annie, will be theatrically reunited with his original Annie, Andrea McArdle, for the first time since the mega-musical was on Broadway in 1977.  They team up again in Love is Love, a brand new musical revue conceived and directed by Charnin, which will premiere in Florida at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre for ten performances as a special limited engagement from October 15 - 25, 2009.

McArdle first captured hearts everywhere in 1976 when she originated the title role in Annie and introduced the eternal "Tomorrow" at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut before it moved to Broadway and ran for 2,327 performances.  With her curly red hair and strong instantly identifiable sound, McArdle was the youngest performer at the time to be nominated for a Tony Award as Best Lead Actress in a Musical. Since then, she has starred in many Broadway musicals, national and international tours, as well as concerts and cabaret performances and even recreated her role as Annie in London with Charnin in 1978.

In Love is Love, Charnin has cast McArdle as one of the women that will take you on a journey that grapples with the mysteries and complications of that most elusive and indescribable emotion. With music and lyrics by Charnin, Richard Gray, and monologues by five celebrated librettists, this new musical revue highlights a multitude of female adventures, from love at first sight with its butterfly beginnings, to keeping love alive, to the dying embers of a love gone wrong.

Originally, the cast was to be three women; however, given the talent Charnin found at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre during auditions, he has increased the cast to feature four women.  The newest addition to the Love is Love cast is Avery Sommers, a Broadway veteran and Carbonell Award winner.  Sommers will join the cast which includes: Patti Eyler and Laura Hodos, both Florida theatrical stalwarts, along with McArdle.

Love is Love, produced by Rodger Hess in conjunction with the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, will be onstage Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18 and Thursday, October 22 through Sunday, October 25;  Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 2 and 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

All Maltz Jupiter Theatre limited engagement tickets will go on sale Friday, May 1st and tickets for Love is Love will be $28 for orchestra seats and $25 for mezzanine. For more information and tickets, please call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit online at www.jupitertheatre.org.

MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE'S HIT-MUSICAL
GOES TO BROADWAY!

April 23, 2009 (Jupiter, FL) - The Tin Pan Alley Rag, the Carbonell Award-winning musical seen at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in 2006 will premiere in New York at the prominent  Roundabout Theatre this summer. Winner of "Best Musical" at the 2007 South Florida Carbonell Awards, this musical features the songs of Irving Berlin and Scott Joplin, and was written by Mark Saltzman.

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre's The Tin Pan Alley Rag was enhanced by Rodger Hess Productions who will be co-producing the show with the Roundabout.  "The 'out of town' production at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre gave us an opportunity to develop and improve the show. The Theatre and its staff were very supportive during the process and any producer wanting to bring a show to New York would be well advised to nurture the show there," says Rodger Hess, Maltz Jupiter Theatre board member.

The Tin Pan Alley Rag will begin performances on Friday, June 12 and open officially on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre.  This musical tells a fictional story of a meeting between Scott Joplin and Irving Berlin in 1915, two of America's greatest composers.

The Roundabout's production of The Tin Pan Alley Rag will be directed by Stafford Arima with choreography by Liza Gennaro and musical direction by Michael Patrick Walker featuring classic songs such as Irving Berlin's "I Love a Piano" and Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer" among many others!

"To become a great regional theatre it is our obligation to contribute artistically to new work.  We are grateful to have had the opportunity to help shepherd The Tin Pan Alley Rag where it could go on to have a Broadway run," says Andrew Kato, Artistic Director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

April 7, 2009 (Jupiter, FL) -Andrew Kato, the Artistic Director of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, announced the 2009/2010 limited engagement lineup to include old favorites such as John Pizzarelli and Capitol Steps and new classics like The Beatle Maniacs and Forbidden Broadway. This year's limited engagements will include a diverse selection of shows ranging from a new Juke Box Series to the best in comedy and more.

"We have put together a great collection of entertaining shows to compliment the Theatre's season. All of these programs are "blue chip" events that have sold out here in past years, or have a great reputation nationally," says Kato.

The season starts off in December with a traditional "Holiday Concert" from the Palm Beach Gardens Concert Band, who are performing at the Theatre for the first time. This will be followed by the hilarious political satire of Capitol Steps, a sold-out event for the last five seasons. Due to popular demand the Theatre will be adding an additional show on New Year's Day!

In January, join in on a memorial tribute celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley with Chris MacDonald's Memories of Elvis in honor of his 75th birthday. Next, kicking off the Juke Box Series, presented in part by Via Productions, will be Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, revisiting their classic hits such as "Sixteen Candles."

In an effort to provide programming for our young theatre-goers, the Kids Korner will present Cinderella onstage, one of the most popular fairy tales ever written. The Kids Korner is ideal for children ages 3 - 10 and great for the entire family!

Continuing the Juke Box Series in February, Bobby Rydell and The Platters are back for more hit performances. The Beatle Maniacs, will follow with an explosive tribute to the Beatles featuring hits that include Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Yesterday.

Don't miss the witty and comical Sister, back with a new set of lessons on the Sacraments of Marriage and Last Rites with Late Nite Catechism 3 - Til Death Do Us Part. Next, Forbidden Broadway 25th Anniversary Tour will have you laughing in the aisles as the show pokes fun at your favorite musicals and pays homage to your beloved Broadway stars, which is a great evening for any theatre fan!

Back by popular demand, the John Pizzarelli Quartet is internationally known for the cool jazz flavor he brings to his performance as he entertains audiences across the country. And as a great finale to the season, join Louise Pitre for From Piaf to Broadway and Back, with classic performances from Mamma Mia, Piaf, Les Miserables and Jacques Brel.
