From a young age, Scout has enjoyed the privileges that comewith being affluent and white in the racially segregated town of Maycomb,Alabama. When her father, a lawyer, takes on the task of defending a black managainst a potential death sentence, Scout’s sheltered existence from racialissues is turned upside down. Scout quickly learns that growing up means doing what is right, even when it comes at greatcost. Considered an American masterpiece, ToKill a Mockingbird illustrates the power of childhood innocence, morality,and love.
