Maltz Jupiter Theatre

July 3, 2014 (Jupiter) – This summer, learn while having fun with Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. and students who are training with Broadway’s best at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre’s summer camp programs!

A full performance of the family-friendly musical will take place on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Fun for all ages, tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for children.

The show will star students from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre Paul and Sandra Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts’ three-week Junior Conservatory summer camp (grades 3-5), in which students learn all aspects of theatre such as acting, dance and voice, culminating in full performances of a musical.

Based on the Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series, this fun and energetic musical features “Conjunction Junction” and more! Audience members will sing along to their favorites as younger audience members discover the magic of Schoolhouse Rock for the first time, The show will feature beloved characters such as “Interplanet Janet,” who teaches about the solar system, and “Bill,” who wants to become a law and teaches about the U.S. constitution and congress.

Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. personifies educational fun that sticks,” said established Conservatory instructor Lea Roy. “The songs are catchy, and the storyline is so exciting that children learn at the same time. The music also has this great ‘70s groove that’s perfect for all ages; If you like The Brady Bunch or The Partridge Family, you’re sure to love this musical.”

Roy is directing the production, with choreography by international performer Ricky Nahas and music direction by North Palm Beach composer, lyricist and writer John Mercurio.

During camp, Roy will guide students through the process of auditioning for a Broadway show, a fast-paced rehearsal schedule and the opportunity to showcase all that they’ve learned onstage, complete with costumes, sets, professional lighting and a professional theater orchestra.

“The Junior Conservatory is a wonderful opportunity for local children to have the chance to experience what it's like to work in professional theatre and perform in a full musical,” Roy said. “Also, with this particular show, they’ll learn about grammar, math and history in a fun, unique way. There’s still time to sign up for camp, and we’d like to encourage parents to have their children join us this summer at the Conservatory.”

Other exciting camp options for grades K-12 include a one-week Superhero Camp for grades K-5 (July 28 – August 1); a one-week Shark Week! Camp for grades K-5 (August 4 – 8); and a two-week Dance Intensive Camp for grades 6-12 (July 14 – 25).

Students will perform Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Tickets are $20 for adults; $15 for children.
