FAMILY-FRIENDLY SUMMER SHOWS,
SUMMER CAMP OPTIONS AT THE
MALTZ JUPITER THEATRE AND ITS CONSERVATORY
April 26, 2017 – Springtime is here, and it’s time for family programming at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre!
The Theatre has entertainment options for the entire family from April through July. Students from the Theatre’s Goldner Conservatory of Performing Arts will perform the musicals The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr. (April 29 and 30), West Side Story (May 12 and 13), Guys and Dolls (June 23 and 24), Godspell (July 1 and 2) and James and the Giant Peach, Jr. (July 28 and 29).
While performed by students, all productions will take place on the Theatre’s stage and will be complete with professional production values: sets, costumes, lights, a full orchestra and more.
First up is The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, Jr., which follows Stanley as he folds his way around the world with his flat-tastic hijinks. Featuring students in grades 3 – 5, this fun-filled journey is based on the best-selling book series. Bring the little ones and come prepared to sing along!
Next up is West Side Story, the seminal retelling of Romeo and Juliet that tells the story of young lovers caught between prejudice and warring street gangs. Featuring middle and high school students, this beloved American musical classic will warm hearts of all ages.
June brings the oddball romantic comedy Guys and Dolls, which features middle and high school students and follows gambler Nathan Detroit as he tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town. In July, students in grades 3 – 5 will tackle Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach, Jr., the spectacular tale about a boy and his insect friends who take an amazing journey across the ocean.
And you won’t want to miss Godspell, the first major musical by three-time Grammy® and Academy Award® winner Stephen Schwartz that reminds us of the importance of kindness, tolerance and love. Performed by soon-to-be-graduates of the Theatre’s inaugural Professional Training Program, the musical tells of a troupe of actors that help Jesus Christ stage parables with games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comedic timing.
Tickets to all student shows are $20 for students and $25 for adults. For showtimes, tickets and more information, call (561) 575-2223 or visit www.jupitertheatre.org.
