March 17, 2009 (Jupiter, FL) -In this difficult economic time the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is thrilled to announce that the Matching Fund campaign will continue beyond the "We Create Art" season finale, Evita! All tax-deductible donations given to the Theatre before the subscription renewal deadline of May 4, 2009 will be doubled by Milton and Tamar Maltz.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre, a not-for-profit theatre, is a producing organization that needs to raise $2 million in contributions to fund the quality productions and outstanding educational programs. Ticket prices and tuition are kept at an affordable level so that all in the community can benefit.
"The performing arts offer so much; the enjoyment, compassion, beauty, healing and sense of community that we provide is essential for a quality life. And with sold-out performances, the Theatre contributes to the economic vitality of businesses in this area. We hope that everyone who has experienced this will donate during this critical time so their donation can be doubled," said Tricia Trimble, Managing Director.
There are several ways to support the Theatre and have your donation doubled. Basic membership begins at $100 and continues through the "1001 Club" where members donate $1,001 and the "Spotlight Circle" where members donate $5,000. A donation of $100 personalizes a brick paver, a perfect gift to pay tribute to a spouse, parent, child or friend. Patrons can permanently name an auditorium seat under the "Take a Seat" program. Orchestra seats are $2,500 and mezzanine seats are $1,500.
Donors of the Theatre are invited to several insider's events, may purchase single tickets to the 2009/2010 season early (before they go on sale to public) and will receive a complimentary subscription to Art & Culture Magazine.

Jupiter, FL (March 2, 2009) - This Spring the Maltz Jupiter Theatre will present the largest musical ever produced on our stage since it opened! Evita, winner of seven Tony Awards, is the compelling mega-musical written by Andrew Lloyd Weber with lyrics by Tim Rice. This production has been captivating audiences for years and will be onstage March 17 - April 5, 2009 at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre to complete the record-breaking season.
With a 20-person ensemble and children's choir of 12 young local actors, this incredible musical tells the story of the life of Argentina's infamous Eva Peron entirely through song and dance as she climbed her way up the ladder of success. Beginning in 1934, the story follows the young girl's early life as an actress through her eventual rise to power as the wife of General Juan Peron.
Evita is directed and choreographed by Marc Robin, who has worked extensively in theatres such as Marriott's Theatre in Lincolnshire, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and many others throughout the country. His work has earned him 14 Joseph Jefferson Awards (38 nominations), 11 After Dark awards and 3 Ari "Zoni" Awards.
Eva Peron will be performed by Jodie Langel, an actress that launched her career on Broadway in the role of Cosette in Les Miserables while still attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and performed Grizabela in the National Tour of CATS, where she was the youngest person to ever portray the role.
Andrew Kato, Artistic Director of the Theatre says, "The caliber of performers our Theatre is attracting is phenomenal. We auditioned over 700 actors in Jupiter, Orlando and New York to find this outstanding ensemble."
The award-winning creative team includes musical direction by Helen Gregory (Carbonell nominations for Best Musical Direction for Man of La Mancha and The Full Monty), set design by Robert Kovach, costume design by M. Shan Jensen, lighting design by Donald Thomas (Carbonell winner of Best Lighting in Man of La Mancha and nominee for The Full Monty), sound design by Keith Kohrs and wig design by Gerard Kelly.
Don't miss this rock opera version of the classic, Evita, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre which will be an outstanding finale to the "We Create Season." For tickets and more information call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit us online at www.jupitertheatre.org.
According to Robin: "Right now, anything that shows determination and perseverance in a time where it is so much easier to sit back and watch is a wonderful thing. I respond to the strength and courage that not only the show presents, but that the woman presents. So much of the time people focus on what they think they know, but they don't know all of the facts; I love stories that allow you to see all sides so that you can form your own opinion."
According to Kato: "Evita is the most ambitious project we have produced here at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre. In addition to the large cast we have re-orchestrated the completely sung-through score for a ten piece live orchestra which will support Evita Peron's epic journey."
About the show: Although originally conceived as a record project, Evita was destined from the beginning for the stage. Evita opened its New York run at the Broadway Theatre on September 25, 1979 with Patti LuPone in the lead and Mandy Patinkin as the enigmatic Che Guevera. The production ran for 1,567 performances and spawned several touring companies. The 1996 screen version of Evita featured Madonna and Antonio Banderas.
Cast: Jodie Langel performing the role of Eva, Rudy Martinez as Che, David Studwell as Peron, Curt Dale Clark as Magaldi and Kelley McGillicuddy as the Mistress

February 25, 2009 (Jupiter, Fl) - A Tribute to the Legends is coming to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, presented by the Theatre's Guild to benefit the Theatre's Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA).
The impersonators for Cher and Barbra Streisand will make you believe the legends themselves are performing live onstage. Betty Atchison (Cher) has performed exclusively for Celine Dion and Rene Angelil on their private yacht. Her exciting shows feature award-winning Bob Mackie-style costume replicas. As an industry recognized voice/double for Cher, she was also recently featured at the Cher Convention in Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas.
Developing a Streisand act has been a natural progression for Joan Rose H.H. She was always told how much she looked and sounded like Streisand, and first tried impersonating Barbra at a masquerade party where the response was phenomenal. She decided to develop her "Barbra Persona" and has now mastered the look and sound.
This Tribute will be at 7:30pm and tickets are $40 each. For tickets and more information please call the box office at (561) 575-2223 or visit the website at www.jupitertheatre.org.
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre Guild is a vital part of the theatre and plays an instrumental part in supporting the Theatre in its growth and stability and furthering its recognition as the premier regional theatre in South Florida. Guild members assist in advancing the mission of the theatre and its many programs as well as fundraising specifically for COPA.
As a not-for-profit theatre, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, recognizing the importance of arts education for youth, has made its mission to "entertain, educate and inspire." COPA offers a challenging, innovative and quality theatre experience to students of every ability and provides professional theatre training as well as tools to develop their imagination and self-esteem. Classes are available in dance, voice, acting and musical theatre as well as workshops featuring local and national talent throughout the year.
