Youth Artists’ Chair
The Youth Artists’ Chair is a unique specialized mentorship program at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. The project aligns high school students with individual Maltz Jupiter Theatre staff members for one-on-one mentoring and guidance during the creation process of the show. Through the project, students have produced one drama each year since 2011.
Applicants for the annual project are interviewed and selected by a committee, then collaborate with industry professionals in their respective craft or specialty field. Because the Maltz Jupiter Theatre is Florida’s largest award-winning professional regional theatre, selection for this competitive program is an honor as recipients receive a high level of training at no cost to them or their families. The program is an excellent resume credit for college applications and qualifies for approved required community service hours.
Students are chosen for the following responsibilities of the show:
Producer, Director, Actors, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Properties Designer, Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Marketing, Public Relations, Development, Carpentry, Run Crew, Wardrobe and Electrics.
The 2018 Youth Artists’ Chair performance of To Kill A Mockingbird will be held August 11, on stage at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
